CO Division of Water Resources Announces Virtual Public Meeting on Yampa, White, and North Platte River Basins Measurement Rules Rulemaking

The Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) is announcing a virtual Measurement Rules Rulemaking stakeholder meeting to present an update of the draft Measurement Rules for Water Division 6 (North Central and Northwest Colorado for the Yampa, White, and North Platte River basins.)  and gather initial feedback and comment.  DWR conducted in-person stakeholder meetings during October 2021 in Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, Rangely, Meeker, Walden, and Craig, CO.

The Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) is announcing a series of public meetings to present information and gather input on DWR’s upcoming Measurement Rules Rulemaking in Division 6 (North Central and Northwest Colorado for the Yampa, White, and North Platte River basins.) The purpose of the rulemaking is to develop consistent, stakeholder-driven standards for the implementation of DWR’s statutory authority for requiring measuring devices for water diversion and storage and reporting of records.

Governor Polis, the Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR), in cooperation with the Department of Transportation (CDOT), released a report today detailing options to further protect Colorado’s wildlife habitat and wildlife corridors, and improve conditions for Colorado’s iconic big game species.

Governor Polis Appoints members of Colorado Forest Health Council

Governor Jared Polis and Dan Gibbs, Executive Director, Colorado Department of Natural Resources announced the appointed members of the Colorado Forest Health Council today. The Council is a volunteer stakeholder body whose role is to provide a collaborative forum to advise the Governor, through the Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources, and the Colorado General Assembly, on issues, opportunities, and threats to Colorado’s forests.

Conserving land for wildlife: public and private partners "bank” on northern Colorado's fragile ecosystem

Conservation Investment Management, Colorado Open Lands, and the Colorado State Land Board today announced the Table Top Conservation Bank, a new partnership to leverage private funds to help an important species in decline. The partnership will conserve and enhance over two hundred acres of habitat on Colorado state trust land for the Federally Threatened Preble’s meadow jumping mouse in Larimer County. This is the first-ever commercial conservation bank in Colorado that will sell credits to offset negative impacts to Preble’s meadow jumping mouse habitat across a broad area.

Work Group Submits Anti-Speculation Law Report to Water Resources Review Committee

Department of Natural Resources delivered the Work Group’s Anti-Speculation Law Report to the members of the Water Resources Review Committee today.  The report, titled SB 20-048 - Report of the Work Group to Explore Ways to Strengthen Current Water Anti-Speculation Law, is the culmination of the Work Group’s efforts to fulfill the provisions of SB20-048.
