Assistant Director for Energy Innovation

Jennifer brings nearly two decades of experience spanning subsurface science, federal energy policy, and strategic energy development. She previously served as a Program Manager in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, where she oversaw CarbonSAFE investments, served as the Carbon Transport and Storage team’s tribal liaison, and managed national laboratory development of advanced AI and machine-learning tools for subsurface risk assessment.

Before her federal service, Jennifer held senior technical and leadership roles in private industry, where she led reservoir characterization, risk and uncertainty evaluation, and integrated development planning in support of responsible, strategically aligned project design across North America, including multiple Colorado basins.

Jennifer holds an M.S. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a B.S. in Geology from West Virginia University, a graduate certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford University, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

The Assistant Director for Energy Innovation serves as a policy advisor to the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director of Policy on emerging energy technologies and multi-agency initiatives involving geothermal development, carbon management, and cross-division energy planning.
