(Denver) — The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission and Executive Director Dan Gibbs have chosen Laura Clellan as the sole finalist for the position of CPW Director. Per statute, the public notice of the sole finalist will be posted for 14 days.
The Commission will then hold a special virtual public meeting on Monday, February 23, 2026, to consider the appointment of the Director. Laura has been serving as Colorado Parks and Wildlife Acting Director since December 2025. She has extensive management, organization, and military experience. In her civilian life she was Chief for Leadership and Employee Development in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Lakewood and worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. For the State of Colorado, she served as Adjutant General and Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs before retiring in October 2025. Major General Clellan has more than three decades of decorated military service and multiple overseas deployments.
